Anping Shen was elected from Ward 3 in 2017.  Aping has been active in Newton community for 25 years, including many years on the Newton Chinese Language School as PTO Chair, principal and founding Board Chair.  Anping served as School Council member for Lincoln-Eliot Elementary, Horace Mann Elementary (and its Co-Chair) and Newton North High School.  He also served on the Newton superintendent search committee and strategic planning team, Newton Human Rights Commission and the board of the Newton Historical Society.  Anping has been an educational specialist at the State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for over 20 years and holds a BA from Suzhou University in China, and M.Ed and D.Ed from Boston University.  Anping and his wife have been residing in Newton for 29 nine years and have two graduates from NNHS (2004 and 2017).
