Supporting Asian American Students During the Pandemic
Since the start of the pandemic, Asian Americans have experienced an incline in discriminatory acts of violence. Here is a guide of resources to support your conversations in the classroom with all students.

Black History Resources
We in NPS recognize that Black history is a part of our collective American history and should be embedded in our curriculum and practice throughout the year. It is within the study of this history that we become better equipped to wrestle with the challenges and opportunities around contemporary discussions of racism.

Embrace Race
EmbraceRace identifies, organizes and creates the tools, resources, discussion spaces, and networks we need to meet 4 goals:
- Nurture resilience in children of color
- Nurture inclusive, empathetic children of all stripes
- Raise kids who think critically about racial inequity
- Support a movement of kid and adult racial justice advocates for all children

Folger Teaching
The Folger Method is a way of teaching complex texts that enables all students to own—and enjoy—the process of reading closely, interrogating texts, discovering language with peers, and contributing to the ongoing human conversation about words and ideas. It is a radical engine for equity that teachers consistently call “transformative.”
-
Learning for Justice
Teaching Tolerance provides free resources to educators—teachers, administrators, counselors and other practitioners—who work with children from kindergarten through high school. Educators use our materials to supplement the curriculum, to inform their practices, and to create civil and inclusive school communities where children are respected, valued and welcome participants.

Lee & Low Books
Lee & Low Books is the largest multicultural children's book publisher in the country. We publish contemporary diverse stories that all children could enjoy. We decided to steer clear of folktales since they tended to be about people who lived a long time ago. In contrast, we wanted our books to emphasize the richness of today’s cultures. We also avoided talking animal stories since there was nothing new we could bring to this genre. And we pledged to make a special effort to work with unpublished authors and illustrators of color.

Multicultural Classroom
Multicultural Classroom works with students, teachers, schools, non profits, and other organizations/companies. We help participants understand the intersection of race, bias, education, and society. In our work we want to reach as many as possible to see their impact and maximize their work toward social justice. We offer half day trainings, panel sessions, keynotes, staff development, and more.
