Music Participation Fees

  • Fees paid to participate in the Elementary Instrumental Music Programs are used to offset the expense Newton Public Schools incurs to provide this program. The fourth grade program provides one weekly 30-minute group lesson culminating in a concert at the end of the school year. Fees do not include musical instruments, method books or accessories.

The fee to participate in the fourth grade introductory group lesson program is $150 for the full year. Understanding that instrumental music is a challenging endeavor, we allow families to enroll by semester, paying fees in two installments of $75. This allows students to leave the program at the end of January if they decide they no longer wish to play their instrument. However, we strongly urge students to remain in the program for a full year to realize success in the program. For students who continue in the program, an invoice for the $75 spring semester fee payment will be mailed home in January.

Families who require financial assistance may apply for a fee waiver and a needs-based scholarship instrument. Instructions for submitting an application are located at the bottom of the registration page.
