Life Insurance

As a benefit eligible employee you may enroll into a $5,000 basic life Insurance Policy through The Hartford Life Insurance Co.  The City of Newton and the employee each pay 50% of the premiums; the current rate for employees is $3.55/month for basic life insurance ($5,000), which also includes accidental death and dismemberment.

To enroll, complete the The Hartford Life Insurance enrollment form. If you are enrolling after your first 30 days of employment, you will need to complete the evidence of insurability form

Deductions are made from the first paycheck of the month. 

Supplemental life insurance can be purchased in increments of $10,000.  Employees pay 100% of the premiums. You may elect to enroll supplemental life insurance up to $150,000. See rate chart below.
