Physical Examination RequirementAll students participating in competitive athletics must have an up-to-date physical examination.
Massachusetts General Law (Chapter 71, Section 57) requires students participating in competitive athletics at school to pass a physical examination dated within thirteen months prior to the start of the sport season. The start of the sport season includes any scheduled practices. The physical exam must be performed by a duly licensed physician, physician's assistant or nurse practitioner. According to Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) rules, a student's eligibility will terminate once a physical has reached the 13 month limit. If your child's physical expires during a sports season, an updated physical examination is required for continued participation.
