  • ELL classes provide language and content instruction to students who are non-native speakers of English. Courses are designed so that the content of the subject area is planned and taught according to students' English proficiency level. All classes integrate the skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing with the subject matter. These courses can be taken in place of a class offered by the English, History, Math, or Science Departments and they are aligned with the curricula in these departments. Additional support is offered during academic support blocks. Current course offerings and class sections depend on student enrollment numbers and may be subject to change. Placement is determined by interview and testing by the ELL Department. Students need to register at the ELL Office in the Education Center prior to enrolling at Newton South.
