Kathleen Bielak - Intervention Aide
Kathleen has a passion for mathematics education and is excited to be part of the Bowen team in the role of Mathematics Interventionist. Kathleen first became interested in mathematics in high school Algebra class. She studied physics and mathematics in college and earned her Master of Education and MA teacher certification at University of Massachusetts, Lowell. Kathleen has been fortunate to have a varied career, including space astronomy research, computer programming, instructional design, and education. Her favorite job by far is working with math learners. Kathleen is fascinated by how students learn math! Her goal is to make instruction personalized and fun and to help students build skills and confidence in their math learning. At home, her husband and two daughters share her love of math, and they all enjoy doing puzzles and playing games together. Kathleen looks forward to seeing you at Bowen!

Susan Pemsler
Literacy Specialist
Susan Pemsler is thrilled to be a member of the learning community at the Bowen School. As an educator Susan has held many positions including Special Educator, Literacy Coach, Reading Interventionist, and now Literacy Specialist. Susan devotes herself to creating learning environments where all kids gain a sense of agency and grow as readers, writers, and thinkers. Susan loves working with other teachers to get ideas for making learning fun! When Susan is not teaching, she spends time with her husband, Warren and cat, Rocko. She has two adult sons: Toby, who is in college in Colorado, and Xan, who is an artist living in Arizona. In her free time Susan enjoys gardening, hiking, and biking. She also loves to READ!!
