Kathleen Bielak - Intervention Aide
After completing his B.A. in Financial Management from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., Christopher McBride returned to his hometown on Long Island, New York to work at Computer Associates International, Inc. Then, having achieved his MBA at Dowling College, he decided that education was his calling, returning to Dowling College for his math teacher certification and furthermore, completing administrative certifications from SUNY Stony Brook, while teaching middle school mathematics at Comsewogue's JFK Middle School in Port Jefferson Station, Long Island. Relocating to the Boston area in 2007, he became a math coach for Malden Public Schools. Before joining the Bowen community in 2013, Christopher was an instructional math coach for Newton's Brown and Oak Hill middle schools. He currently lives with his partner David and son Dylan in Winchester, Mass. When school is out, you can find Christopher in his garden or with his family and dogs enjoying the beauty of Cape Cod in Provincetown.
Kathleen has a passion for mathematics education and is excited to be part of the Bowen team in the role of Mathematics Interventionist. Kathleen first became interested in mathematics in high school Algebra class. She studied physics and mathematics in college and earned her Master of Education and MA teacher certification at University of Massachusetts, Lowell. Kathleen has been fortunate to have a varied career, including space astronomy research, computer programming, instructional design, and education. Her favorite job by far is working with math learners. Kathleen is fascinated by how students learn math! Her goal is to make instruction personalized and fun and to help students build skills and confidence in their math learning. At home, her husband and two daughters share her love of math, and they all enjoy doing puzzles and playing games together. Kathleen looks forward to seeing you at Bowen!

Susan Pemsler - Literacy Specialist
Susan Pemsler is thrilled to be a member of the learning community at the Bowen School. As an educator Susan has held many positions including Special Educator, Literacy Coach, Reading Interventionist, and now Literacy Specialist. Susan devotes herself to creating learning environments where all kids gain a sense of agency and grow as readers, writers, and thinkers. Susan loves working with other teachers to get ideas for making learning fun! When Susan is not teaching, she spends time with her husband, Warren and cat, Rocko. She has two adult sons: Toby, who is in college in Colorado, and Xan, who is an artist living in Arizona. In her free time Susan enjoys gardening, hiking, and biking. She also loves to READ!!
