Title I Teachers and Instructional Assistants work with the classroom teachers to support students in small group targeted instruction. This helps students work to achieve proficient levels in math, literacy and social emotional learning. In addition, the Title I team supports the classroom teachers in assessing students and collecting data. Title 1 also supports children and families as they enter kindergarten at Lincoln-Eliot.
Title I funds support the following in-school and extended day programs at Lincoln-Eliot:
Leveled Literacy Intervention (L.L.I.)
Math and Literacy RTI
Kindergarten Student Support and Family Engagement
Language and Culture based group for ESL Parents
The Title 1 grant promotes family engagement and home-school partnerships through a variety of outreach events. The Literacy Coaches hold information sessions to provide families with strategies to increase oral language and reading skills with their children. Our Math Open House is an interactive event in which families learn games and everyday activities to promote math skills.
Lincoln-Eliot has an on-going book swap called “Take a Book; Share a Book” at the Jackson Road entrance. During Read Across America Week, guest readers and families are invited to school to share their own literacy with our students.
Title I funds support Lincoln-Eliot in providing professional development to continually improve our teaching skills in supporting students’ needs.
Currently, some of our Title 1 supported programs are not being held, due to Covid regulations. We, however, value these programs and intend to reinstitute these once pandemic restrictions are lifted.
