    Arrival and Dismissal

All children should arrive in class between 8:20 and 8:30 AM. Class begins at 8:25AM. Please note there is no supervision before 8:20 AM. The doors open at 8:20 AM. Students should not be in the building before 8:20 AM unless participating in a before-school activity.

If you wish to have your child dismissed early, please send a note to the school giving the date and times of dismissal. When you arrive at the school, please go to the office and the teacher will send your child to meet you or the designated adult in the office.

Anyone arriving after 8:30 AM is considered tardy and should check in with the school secretary before proceeding to class. If you know your child will be late for school, call 617-559-9390 and leave a message.

Please be sure to advise the office whenever your number(s) change.

    Field Trips

Each teacher will make arrangements for individual trips with his/her class' students and parents.  There is a confidential discretionary fund for parents who need assistance with the cost.  Parents are welcome to assist as chaperones; however, students are under the direct supervision of the teacher.  Students must have a written permission slip signed by the parent in order to participate.

    Gift Policy

The Newton School Committee's policy states that no teacher in the performance of regular duties shall receive presents from the pupils under his or her direction. In addition, students are prohibited from exchanging gifts with other students during school. This has the potential to be exclusionary which is contradictory to our Core Values. Cards, notes, and pictures from students and parents are always appreciated.
