NPS Support Organizations
The Newton Public Schools benefits from and is appreciative of the support - both engagement and financial - of recognized Support Organizations whose volunteers enthusiastically work to support an individual school, a department or program, or the district as a whole. The Newton Public Schools is grateful for the benefits derived from a cadre of committed volunteers: student caregivers, Newton citizens, and local business entities.
Groups who wish to support the Newton Public Schools need to be recognized by the Superintendent and operate under the expectations described in the Newton Public Schools Support Organization Guidelines. To request recognition, please provide the following information to your affiliated school principal. After principal review, the recognition materials will be reviewed by the Superintendent for approval.
The requested application includes:
- The name of the organization
- The date of application
- A copy of the organization’s articles of organization and bylaws
- The names and email address of the appointed school liaison members and directors.
- Confirmation that no employee of the Newton Public Schools will be an authorized signer on a Support Organization’s bank account.
- The tax identification number of the group (Apply for Federal Tax ID Number) and the Attorney General Account Number assigned upon registration as a public charity.
- A brief description of the objectives and the intended use of funds generated.
- A template for Application for Recognition can be found in the Support Organization Guidelines- Appendix B.
