Superintendent), Josh Morse (Newton Commissioner Public Buildings), Emily Prenner (School Committee member), Beth Herlihy (Principal), "Teddy," (Countryside mascot).

The official groundbreaking ceremony for the Countryside Elementary School project was held under sunny skies on Monday, May 19, 2025.  The new building will be completed in January 2027, with the sitework complete by the fall of 2027.  The Countryside School will be the first building in Newton to use ground source heat pumps (geothermal system) to heat and cool the building, significantly reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

Many thanks to the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA), City Council, School Committee, Design Review Committee, Mayor Fuller, Public Buildings, Superintendent Nolin, Principal Beth Herlihy and the staff at Countryside, and the community for their support and work on this project.
