Project Timeline and Completed Buildings
The City and School district have been working to renovate and/or replace aging school buildings. Passage of the March 2013 override questions provided funding to complete major construction projects at three elementary schools: Angier, Zervas and Cabot, with Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) funding complementing the override funding for the Angier and Cabot projects. These three schools were built and opened during the 2015-2019 time period. The Newton Early Childhood Program (NECP) project at 687 Watertown Street was completed in December 2022, and the new Lincoln-Eliot Elementary School at 150 Jackson Road (one block from their previous home) was completed in August 2025, and opened to staff and students in September 2025.
