Buffer Zones and Student Assignment

As building projects are completed and demographics of student populations shift, NPS periodically reviews student assignments to ensure balanced enrollment at its elementary, middle, and high schools. At certain times, the Student Assignment Working Group (SAWG) is convened to consider larger scale changes to boundary lines as school buildings are replaced or renovated. At other times, smaller shifts may be considered when specific issues in enrollment related to changing demographics are identified. In addition, NPS periodically evaluates facilities to ensure that the buildings can deliver the educational program the district desires to provide to students.
