Newton METCO Transportation

Transportation to Newton Public Schools is coordinated through the Newton Public Schools Transportation Department.

Overview of METCO Transportation

  • Service Provision: Daily morning pickup and afternoon drop-off bus services are provided for Boston resident students attending elementary, middle, and high schools in Newton.
  • Bus Stops & Schedules: Standardized bus routes and neighborhood pick-up/drop-off points in Boston are established prior to the start of each school year. There are several neighborhoods we are not able to provide service to such as: Allston, Brighton, Charlestown,East Boston, Northend, Westend, Beacon Hill, Mission Hill, Fenway, Chinatown, Downtown, Seaport, Waterfront, South Boston & West Roxbury.  Families in these areas will have to travel to the closest bus stop on their schools bus route.  Detailed arrival and departure times for each school level are published on the NPS Bus Bus Stop & Schedules Page.
  • Bus Registration: Families must complete the annual transportation registration process through Myschoolbucks, theNPS online bus registration portal, to secure a bus pass for the school year.  Please use these instructions to register in MySchoolBucks for transportation.
  • Safety & Conduct: Students are required to carry their assigned bus pass daily and abide by the Newton Public Schools Student Code of Conduct while riding all district-arranged buses.

      • Log into Aspen
      • Click on Family Tab at the top
      • Click on Child's Name
      • Click on Documents Side Tab
      • Look for and download Bus Pass document
  • Late Buses & Extra-Curriculars: Secondary students participating in after-school sports, clubs, or academic support have access to designated late bus runs scheduled for specific middle and high school campuses. No middle school student should attempt to board a High School bus or High School Students should not board a Middle school bus.
