METCO

METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) is a state-funded program designed to expand educational opportunities, increase diversity, and reduce racial isolation by providing students who live in Boston the opportunity to attend public schools in participating suburban communities.

As a participating METCO district, Newton Public Schools is committed to fostering welcoming, inclusive school communities where METCO students are full and valued members of their schools. Newton METCO students bring a wide range of racial, ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic, and religious backgrounds and experiences to our school community.

METCO students are enrolled across all 21 Newton Public Schools, from Kindergarten through Grade 12.
