A typical day will include a morning class on history, architecture, contemporary politics, or literature; an afternoon divided between small group work and exploration of the cities; and some evenings will include opportunities for cultural activities.
In Krakow, visits will be made to Auschwitz/Birkenau concentration camp, Wieliczka Salt Mines and the Old Jewish Quarter. In the Czech Republic, Prague will be our homebase and there will be day trips to Lidice (a small mining town that was razed by the Nazis in 1942) and Cesky Krumlov (UNESCO World Heritage Site), a restored 13th century medieval town. In Germany, we will visit Dresden, the Florence of Germany and its numerous museums; and in Berlin, sites like the Reichstag, Berlin Wall and Olympic Stadium will be part of the tour.
