NNHS & NSHS Latin Trip

The Newton North, Newton South Latin Trip has been taking place every other year for the better part of the last decade. Designed to immerse students in the fullness of Roman history, culture, and architecture, the trip centers largely on Rome, but includes other cities of significance to the history of the Roman empire. From the ruins of Pompeii to the splendor of St. Peter’s Basilica, students will experience a convergence of the ancient and the modern.

A typical day on the Rome trip involves a lot of walking! You can expect to leave the hotel in the morning and not return until nighttime. We spend most of the days wandering around the city of Rome, visiting ancient, medieval, Renaissance, and modern landmarks–and of course, enjoying all the food that Rome has to offer! We will also spend a few days taking trips outside of the city center, for instance to Ostia, Pompeii, Cerveteri, or the Via Appia.
