Retirees Age 65 or Over
Newton Public Schools offers three Medicare plans: Blue Cross Blue Shield Medex2 (Supplement), Tufts Medicare Preferred and Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicare HMO Blue (Advantage). If you are enrolling in a Medicare Supplement or Advantage Plan, please submit enrollment forms and accompanying documentation to the Newton Public Schools Human Resources Office, not to the health insurance company. You must be retired from Newton Public Schools and receive a pension from either the City of Newton Retirement Board or the Massachusetts Teachers Retirement Board to be eligible to participate in retiree insurance programs.

Retirees Under 65 (Or Ineligible for Medicare)
If you are a retiree under age 65 or are ineligible for Medicare*, you may enroll in any of the active employee health plans (Blue Cross Blue Shield HMO or Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO). Blue Cross Blue Shield HMO covers retirees living in New England and the Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO covers retirees living outside of New England. Dental Insurance - All Retirees
Newton Public Schools offers a separate dental plan for all retirees, regardless of age/Medicare eligibility.
