Course Registration Q&A

  • Why can't I see my teacher recommendations online?

    Posted by:

The online registration system defaults to "Entry Mode." To see teacher recommended courses click the blue text "exit entry mode" right under the options button.

Also, please note that incoming 9th graders may not be able to see math recommendations until the verification form is published to Aspen.

You can only add a direct alternate from the same subject area. To add alternates from other subject areas use the "Alternates" section in Entry Mode at the bottom of the window.

  • What if there is disagreement with a teacher recommended course?

    Posted by:

If you disagree with a teacher's recommendation, then your first step is to find a time to talk with your teacher 1-1. If there is still disagreement, you should make an appointment to speak with the appropriate department head.

  • The elective I want to take is not available for selection online. What do I do?

    Posted by:

First, it may be there but on a different page. If there are multiple pages of electives, there are arrows to shift between the different pages within a given elective subject. Only a limited number show at a time.

Second, not all electives are available for selection online by students. These courses require teacher approval. You can add these courses to your registration form on Verification Day using the online Verification Day Google Form and the appropriate Department Head will check for approval.

  • What is Verification Day?

    Posted by:

Verification Day happens after all course recommendations and course requests have been entered online.  The purpose of the day is to clean up your course registration information. Your verification form will be published in advance on Aspen. On Verification Day, you should use the Online Verification Day Google Form to:

    - Delete the course you do not want

    - Add alternates where appropriate (especially when required for teacher recommended courses)

    - Add electives requiring signatures

    - Prioritize course requests if you have not already done so
