NSHS Athletics Handbook
Welcome to Newton South, home of the Lions!
Your child is part of the Newton South athletic family, a group rich in tradition and striving for excellence. Our students have performed with responsibility, dedication, skill, intensity and desire at the high school, college and professional levels. More importantly, they have served their community and have been outstanding role models.
The rules and expectations set forth in the pages of this handbook are in line with our school policies and the MIAA rules. Following these rules with our Motto in mind will allow our students, parents and coaches to represent Newton South with pride, confidence and respect. Please understand that participating in Athletics is a privilege and not a right. Standards at Newton South are as high in athletics as they are in academics. We are committed to helping you to be part of our Lion family.
Hopefully, this handbook will provide your family with some important information and insights regarding athletics at Newton South. Keep it as a reference. If you feel that your questions are not answered in the enclosed material, first contact your child’s coach. He or she can be more specific with an answer. If your concerns are not addressed, you should then contact the Athletic Director.
