NNHS Mexico Exchange

      Introduction

      • Newton North High School has been exchanging with our sister school in Guanajuato for almost thirty years! Guanajuato is where the movement for Mexican independence began; spend the first two and a half weeks exploring its rich history, then finish your trip with a four day adventure in Mexico City. From the depths of the silver mines to the top of the pyramids of Teotihuacan, you’ll deepen your understanding of Mexican culture and watch your language skills soar to new heights.

What a Typical Day Looks Like

      • Exchange participants will spend their mornings at our sister school, either shadowing their host siblings, or doing their homework in a study hall proctored by the NNHS chaperones. At lunch time, we will depart from the school and have lunch together downtown, followed by an excursion to a culturally significant site in Guanajuato. We might visit the Mummy Museum, experience the sights and smells of the Hidalgo Market, or explore the fortress of la Alhóndiga. Students will spend evenings in their homestay, where they will have dinner and get to better know their host families.
