PreK - Grade 5

  • As you know as a staff member working with younger children, learning to get along with others and navigate social relationships is as central to a student's life as learning academic subjects. This section of the Newton Public Schools website provides resources on both pro-social prevention work, as well as understanding the dynamics of bullying and what to do about it. You will notice, as you explore the pages of the Newton Public Schools Bullying Prevention and Intervention website, that there is a great deal of similarity across the different sections. Indeed, we have many parallel resources on parent, staff and student pages. This is because the Newton Public Schools believes in a community approach to bullying prevention and intervention: just as it is helpful to parents for school staff to share in-school observations, the classroom teacher, social worker/psychologist, secretary, or administrator is also encouraged to ask parents what they see and hear at home.

This page is meant to be a "go to" resource to learn more. We have put together a wealth of resources for you to delve into further. Not all the information here will be relevant right now, but it is here so that you can pick what you'd like to further explore.
