  • Financial Assistance

    Financial assistance is available to all students who qualify through the Jennifer Price Global Education Leadership Fund (GELF). To apply, simply complete the Financial Aid Supplement portion of the program application. Questions about financial aid can be directed to Newton's Global Programs Manager Samantha Mandel at mandels@newton.k12.ma.us.

    Students will travel to areas in Puerto Rico that have experiences significant devastation from Hurricane Maria such as Humacao. Students will participate in a variety of sustainability-oriented service projects and will work with community members to learn first-hand about their perceptions of the challenges to local environmental conservation and preservation in the wake of the storm and its devastation. The travel group will also collaborate with local urban agriculturists, farmers and non-profit organisations to do service learning. One project may include assisting with the reopening of urban greenhouses.

    Any Newton North student with a strong interest in sustainability is eligible to apply.  Students accessing academic support services are particularly encouraged to apply for this program.
