NSF Funding available to Newton Public Schools

  • To advance its mission, NSF makes funding available in three main areas:

Promising Initiatives for Teaching and Learning

NSF's goal is to incubate promising and emerging approaches to teaching and learning in the Newton Public Schools so that curriculum is vibrant and dynamic, educators can collaborate and evolve their teaching practices, and students can actively engage in learning that prepares them to tackle real-world challenges.

    Professional Development

NSF's goal is to support the professional growth of Newton educators by investing in new opportunities to extend and deepen their practice and supplement the existing enrichment opportunities that the district provides.

    Achievement and Opportunity Gap

NSFs goal is to support programs that reduce gaps in achievement and opportunity and promote equity in our diverse student population.

Proposal Process

  • The Newton Schools Foundation provides their supporting grant to the Newton Public Schools in one annual lump sum. NPS Grants Administration, in conjunction with the NSF Executive Committee, then allocates project funds based upon a proposal process. The proposal process is guided by two main principles:

    • Project alignment with districtwide goals and objectives
    • Project fit within NSF's mission and goals

Please note - projects requesting funding for administrative work, equipment or new staff positions generally do not meet the NSF funding priorities.
