Implement Units of Study in Opinion, Information, and Narrative Writing, K - 5th grade.

Outcome: All students will develop the appropriate writing skills and utilize them in Opinion, Information and Narrative Writing.
Measurement: Students will be formally assessed two times during each writing unit.
Collaborative teams will meet weekly to review student data (including: MCAS, district assessments, student work, teacher developed formative & summative assessments) to identify SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic & Time Bound) goals as well as plan and implement appropriate instruction, interventions & enrichment.
Outcome: Teachers will meet weekly to use relevant data to inform instruction to meet the needs of the grade-level learners in order for students to meet grade-level benchmarks.
Measurement: Formative and summative assessments will demonstrate students progress towards grade level benchmark as well as students meeting proficient or advanced on MCAS.
Identify and implement Tier Two instruction for identified students following a protocol outlined in the Building Curriculum Accommodation Plan (BCAP).

Outcome: Students will receive the necessary instruction and interventions based on demonstrated skills that do not meet grade-level benchmarks.

Measurement: Decrease in the amount of teacher talk time versus student talk time.
Create and implement guidelines for Non-Professional Teaching Status teachers (first three years) to identify and access building instructional supports based on rubric indicators on the Educator Evaluation tool, as well as the district’s mentoring program.
Outcome: Non-Professional Teaching Status teachers will have greater clarity about available resources to assist them in planning and implementing high-quality instruction for all learners.
Measurement: Formative and summative assessments will reflect increased growth as educators.
MANAGERIAL AND OPERATIONAL GOALS
B1. Continue to develop and refine plans to address long-term facilities across the system.

Assess, identify and implement the best way to use space to provide appropriate learning environments to service all students.
Outcome: Flexible learning spaces that allow for small group and 1:1 instruction to meet students’ needs academically, socially and behaviorally.
Measurement: Annual review of the effectiveness of additional learning spaces in the building.
Increase the diversity of the building based educators.
Outcome: The Bowen faculty will be more reflective of the the values of our community and the diversity of our school community.
Measurement: Increased faculty diversity, specifically educators of color and men.
C1. Work to engage the community about NPS goals, challenges, accomplishments and opportunities using multiple communication strategies
Outcomes and Measurement
Increase communication strategies that will promote stronger community engagement, including: regular home school/home communications from classroom teachers, specialists, and administration; use of digital signage; translate documents when possible; implement kindergarten family introduction to Bowen program; attend & organize meetings in Boston for families enrolled in the METCO program. Administration will regularly collect feedback from the Bowen community, including, students, staff and families, in order to identify potential areas of growth.
Outcome: Create a stronger and more engaged school community that welcomes the voice of all members and recognizes the strength in our diversity.
Measurement: School community will provide annual feedback to all constituents to identify what is working and what needs improvement.
