Description
Posted by:History-focused program with hotel stays. Students explore cultural sites relevant to history & literature, the Holocaust, journalism & media, art & architecture $ music. The program was developed and overseen since 1990 by Newton South history and literature teachers and includes day trips to Lidice, Cesky Krumlov, Auschwitz, the Salt Mines, and Berlin sites. A typical day includes a morning class on history, architecture, contemporary politics, or literature; an afternoon divided between small group work and exploration of the cities; and evenings with opportunities for cultural activities. Students take classes and produce journals while on the trip. Participants earn 2.5 academic credits through the Newton Summer School.

Cost
Posted by:Total tuition for the program is $4,395, which includes all transportation including air travel, lodging, two meals a day, cultural events and admissions fees, local guides and all curriculum materials. Financial aid is available through the Jennifer Price Global Education Leadership Fund.

Eligibility
Posted by:Any current Newton North or South freshman, sophomore, or junior may apply. Students must have a strong interest in history and a clean disciplinary record.
