The Newton Public Schools are actively cultivating a culture of equity and excellence by creating and sustaining curriculum and instructional practices that lead to high quality learning for each and every student. We will build the capacity of our educators to meet challenges and opportunities of teaching and learning in a dynamic and evolving environment.
It is our goal to narrow the achievement gaps with respect to race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status and increase the achievement of students with special needs. Furthermore, we seek to ensure all students become knowledgeable, responsible, caring, and contributing members of society through culturally responsive social and emotional learning from preschool through high school.
In addition to our academic and social/emotional programs, we will continue to refine our long-range plan to improve our school facilities so that Newton students attend school in comfortable, safe buildings conducive to 21st century learning. We will continually update the plan to address current needs of preschool and student services, as well as to adjust student assignment to reduce overcrowding and fully utilize our newer and bigger school buildings.
