• Sample Learning Plans for the Week of 4/6

Welcome to phase 2 of our distance learning plan! This week, every math and computer science teacher has posted a specific learning plan for their class. These can be found in the updates section of each class's schoology page.

Here are some sample learning plans if you are curious what teachers are providing for students. If you need access to your specific learning plan, and cannot find it on schoology, please contact your math or computer science teacher.

  • Update on the Math Move Up Process during School Closure

    Hi Everyone,

While school is not in session and we are still trying to figure out what's happening with our standard courses, move up applications, materials, and self study are on hold. We appreciate your patience as we navigate this difficult time. If we are unable to find a way to make materials accessible to students, we will likely revert back to providing materials over the summer for just this year.

    Thank you

    Divya Shannon

  • WELCOME TO THE NSHS MATH AND COMPUTER SCIENCE DEPARTMENT

The Mathematics and Computer Science Department offers a wide range of courses in mathematics and computer programming. In all of our courses we strive to develop a student's ability to:

    • Communicate mathematics with others using appropriate mathematical notation and terminology
    • Recognize and use patterns to make conjectures and generalizations
    • Use the tools of mathematics to build models for exploring relationships (both applied and theoretical)
    • Learn to use mathematics to help make informed decisions and to solve problems in a variety of contexts and disciplines, in future careers and in daily life.
    • Use logical reasoning to justify solutions to problems and to prove conjectures mathematically

Courses are offered at the Honors (H), Advanced College Prep Accelerated (Acc), Advanced College Prep (ACP), and College Prep (CP). All courses are designed to prepare students for college should that be the pathway the students decide on upon graduation. Please see the pages on math courses and computer science courses, as well as the program of studies for more information about individual offerings and the course flow
