• Dear Cabot families,

This year we are taking this opportunity with the new building to create a renewed enthusiasm at Cabot.  The staff are certainly excited about this upcoming year and the start of new routines and structures that will certainly benefit student learning.  Students will have the opportunity to experience some new amenities including a wonderful library space, use of refillable water stations, a sunny art room, an extended playground that continues into the field directly without crossing a road, and more.  Thank you to the Cabot students for choosing our new mascot “Cabot Cubs” with the School colors of Blue and Gold.

In my third year at Cabot I will be introducing the new staff to our community allowing for us to build on a school culture that focuses on the core values of “Take Care of Ourselves, Take Care of Each Other, Take Care of Our School”.  We also have a new program that will be starting at Cabot. The STRIDE program supports students with autism and related disorders that benefit from individual instructional programming. In addition, kindergarten classes are going to be full day with assistants that are part of the program.

This year we will maintain our arrival and dismissal routines from past years. We will continue to use the School Pass system for dismissal as well as reporting your child’s absences. You will be receiving an e-mail as a reminder to set the default for your child’s dismissal routine. Remember that we use this system to monitor both student absences and afternoon routines. When you set the default for dismissal as well as when you make changes throughout the year, this is the primary mechanism for teachers, the office, and staff ensure your child is dismissed to the correct location. Thank you, in advance, for using this online system to report changes to your child’s dismissal routine and absence from school.

The first two weeks of school teachers will be on the blacktop near the playground at 8:20.  The teachers will then walk the class into the school together. Parents who walk their children to school are invited to wait with their child where you can say goodbye prior to your child entering the building. As teachers walk their class into the building it will help create a positive sense of community, support, and independence for students success.

Parents and students are invited to school on Thursday, August 29th between 2:00 - 3:00 PM to meet their child’s teacher and see their new classroom.  If you are not available at that time, please join the community open house which will be held on Saturday, September 21 between 11 AM - 1 PM. Many requests have come in for individuals to visit the school outside these times.  Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate special visits at this time.
