• Dear 5th Grade Parents,

As we enter our last week of school, I want to take a moment to wish you and your children congratulations on their completion of their elementary years. Their 5th grade graduations are often an emotional conclusion to six years of tremendous growth and connection to their elementary school communities.

As you transition with your children to the middle school level, I want you to know that the Day Faculty and Administrative Team is here to support and guide you into the next phase of your child’s educational journey.  Our initial meetings this spring were just the beginning of our partnership together as we welcome you into the Day Community.

Before you and your children head off for your summer adventures, I want to share with you some helpful information and resources.

    Recording of our Principal Chat

We were able to record our last principal chat with the parents of the Cabot Community. Given that the information covered is relevant to all 5th grade parents, I wanted to share it with you here as promised:

    SUMMER READING

We hope this summer our Day students will continue their vibrant life as readers.  Below is the summer reading assignment for incoming 6th grade students.  Each student is required to pick one of the suggested reads, each with the common theme of resilience, and then read 2-3 additional titles:

In addition, below is an amazing resource of suggested reads put together by our fabulous librarian, Jamie Lightfoot:

SUGGESTED SCHOOL SUPPLY LIST FOR FALL 2022

In the fall, each team of teachers will share a detailed school supply list with students on the first day of school.  As some families like to prepare for school supplies well in advance, this year we have compiled a general suggested school supply list by grade for all students.  Teams will add a few items to this after the first few days of school.

The grade level supply lists are linked below:

FA Day General Suggested Supply List

Please note that this is only a “suggested” supply list. The school will provide supplies to any student who is not able to access them.
