Geoff Epstein was elected from Ward 1 in November 2007. Born and educated in Australia, he has a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Sydney University. Following post-doctoral work at Oxford, MSU, Pittsburgh and MIT he researched and taught physics at BU and then moved into commercial software development where he now focuses on web information management for small businesses. Geoff is a past Board President of the Underwood After School Program where he served for 3 years and has been actively involved in school system issues, with a special focus on math, science and technology since 2001. Geoff and his wife Kitty have lived in Newton for 20 years and have 3 sons, the two eldest, graduates from Newton North and Brookline respectively. Their youngest attends Newton North High School.

Reenie Murphy, Vice Chair, was elected from Ward 2 in November 2003. She has been involved in the NPS for many years including serving as PTO President at Cabot School and Co-President of the Newton PTO Council. Prior to becoming active in the schools, she spent many years working in the accounting and finance profession as a budget and financial analyst. She is a graduate of Canisius College and holds an MBA from Suffolk University. Reenie and her husband Jay have lived in Newton for 18 years and have three children: a daughter who is a freshman at Newton North High School, and a daughter and a son in college.
Reenie Murphy
Kurt Kusiak was elected from Ward 3 in November 2007. Kurt was active in
the Peirce PTO for many years and is one of the founding members of the
Newton chapter of Stand for Children. A former captain in the United States
Air Force and a magna cum laude graduate of Boston University School of Law,
Kurt is a partner at the law firm of Sally & Fitch LLP in downtown Boston.
He has been a West Newton resident since 1997 where he lives with his wife,
Kathleen and their two children.
Kurt Kusiak
Jonathan Yeo was elected from Ward 4 in November 2005. Jonathan was active on the Williams School PTO from 1996 through 2004, serving as PTO Co-President for two years. He was Co-President of the Newton PTO Council for the 2004-2005 school year. Jonathan received a B.A. in Earth Science from Wesleyan University and a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard University. He is the Director of the Division of Water Supply Protection at Massachusetts DCR, responsible for a 170 person unit that protects the Quabbin-Wachusett Reservoir system serving Newton and 2.2 million with high-quality drinking water. Jonathan and his wife Gail have two children: a son in college and a son at the Corwin-Russell School.

Sue Rosenbaum was elected from Ward 5 in November 2009.
Sue has served on the School Councils at Countryside, Zervas, and Newton South High School and as President of the League of Women Voters of Newton from 2006-2008. Susan received a B.A. from Smith College and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Boston University School of Medicine. Having spent many years doing scientific research in Diabetes and Obesity at the Human Nutrition Research Center at Tufts Medical School, Susan has most recently worked for small biotech and pharmaceutical companies in Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Operations. She has lived in Newton for twenty years with her husband David. They are the proud parents of a junior at Newton South and two Newton South graduates.
Sue Rosenbaum
Claire Sokoloff, Chairperson, was elected from Ward 6 in November 2005 after spending many years as a parent leader at Bowen, Oak Hill and Newton South. Claire brings to the Committee twenty years of experience as an organizational development consultant with a special focus on strategic planning and innovation management. She has managed complex change projects for diverse clients ranging from schools, to newspapers, to multinational corporations. She also served as an Adjunct Professor at the B.U. School of Management. Claire received a B.A. in Psychology from Brown University and her Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Yale University. Claire and her husband, Rob Gifford, have three children: a son at Newton South, a daughter and son who are graduates of Newton South and now attend college.

Matt Hills, was elected from Ward 7 in November 2009. Matt has been involved in the NPS and community for many years on the Ward School PTO and a variety of school and city committees. He is a Managing Director at LLM Capital Partners, a private equity and venture capital firm in Boston. He received his B.A. from Brandeis University and his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Matt and his wife Lisa have lived in Newton since 1992 and have four children with one at Bigelow, two at North and one in college.

Margie Ross Decter, was elected from Ward 8 in November 2009. Margie and her husband Adam, a Newton native, have two children attending the Memorial Spaulding School and their third son will graduate Newton South in 2023. Margie brings 20-years’ experience as a business owner and health care executive, community leader on non-profit boards, and a public policy advisor in the Clinton White House. Her professional career has focused on strategic planning, change management and creatively improving the quality of health care, biotechnology and educational organizations amidst financial constraints. Margie earned a Masters in Health Policy and Management from Johns Hopkins University and a B.S. in Biology and French from Lehigh University.
Margie Ross Decter
Setti Warren was elected as Mayor of the City of Newton in November 2009. Setti was born and raised in Newton where he attended Bigelow Junior High and Newton North High School. In 1997, Setti was awarded the Human Rights Award in recognition of his outstanding work as Vice-Chair of the City of Newton's Foundation for Ethnic, Racial, and Religious Equality.
Setti was a founding member of Newton's Community Preservation Committee in 2002 and served as its spokesperson. After graduating from Boston College, Setti began an extensive career in public service as Special Assistant in the White House Office of Cabinet Affairs for President Clinton, as New England Director of FEMA, and as Deputy State Director for Senator Kerry. Prior to running for Mayor, Setti completed a year-long tour of duty in Iraq as a Naval Intelligence Specialist. Setti and his wife Tassy have a daughter, Abigail.
