Spanish Grade 6 Web Quest - El Día de los Muertos

Introduction: Your family is interested in visiting Mexico to see how the Day of the Dead is celebrated. Since you have learned some Spanish in school and are studying about el Día de los Muertos, they want you to research the trip. As you do your research, you will come closer and closer to making all the important decisions for your family... what village you will visit, which markets, if you will visit a cemetery, what you definitely want to see, eat, and buy. It's all up to you!

The Task: Your goal is to make up a Day-by-Day itinerary for your family's vacation. I have given you a blank itinerary form, and you will neatly fill in all the missing information.

The Process: In order to accomplish your goal of planning an excellent family vacation celebrating El Día de los Muertos in Mexico, you will need to visit various web sites that will help you in your research. You will take notes from these sites along with notes taken from class and handouts that I have already given you. All of these things will help you write your itinerary.

Step One: Make sure to check out the following subjects: history, food, events/timeline, altar, photos and postcards. When you finally get to postcards, send me a Day of the Dead postcard! Be sure to greet me en español and to say goodbye to me en español too. My address is: christine_langlois@newton.k12.ma.us Take lots of notes here; this is a great web site!

Step Two: Go directly to the web site: http://www.mexonline.com/dayofthedead.htm

When there, read all you can! Take lots of notes! Remember, you're the travel agent...

Now, if you still need more information..... go on to step three .....

Step Three: Go to Culture and Society of Mexico
