Some Questions To Think About As You Read…

1. How does Satrapi's story reveal the passage from childhood to adulthood? According to her story, what does it mean to be a child? What does it mean to be an adult? What do we have to give up in the transition from childhood to adulthood?

2. How does history shape who we are and who we become? How has your life been affected by the history of your times?

3. How does Satrapi's art add to the story? Why did she choose to tell her story through images? How is Persepolis different from, say, a children's picture book?
